Pre-school Trip to China Town - January 2025

Lesson: Understanding the World

Class: Preschool Year: 2024 - 2025

As part of learning about Lunar New Year, a group of our Pre-school children and staff ventured out to Manchester to visit China Town to explore this very special time of the year.

We wandered down the vibrant streets of red and gold, walked through the golden arches, observed the Chinese artwork, and took in the sights. Whist taking a rest under the pagoda, we discussed what we could see, hear, and smell.

We explored the culture as we shopped in the Chinese supermarkets, searching the shelves and buying some fruit and vegetables to take back to nursery to add to our home corner and investigate further. We observed the artefacts and decorations, where we treated ourselves to some new decorations for the nursery.

After a busy morning, we stopped off for lunch at Noodle Alley, where we got to taste the local cuisine, learn how to use the chopsticks and share stories of our morning adventures. And of course, no trip to China Town would be complete without finding out what our fortunes are as we tucked into delicious fortune cookies.

What a fantastic first-hand experience for our children, learning about the Chinese culture and their special celebration.
